​International Forum on Aquaculture for "Silk Road Countries” was held in Qingdao, China

The International Forum on Aquaculture for Silk Road Countries was held in Qingdao on September 25th -27th, 2019. The forum was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and co-organized by the Aquaculture Branch of the Chinese Fisheries Society, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the China Agricultural Professional Technology Association. 

More than 400 officials, scientists and entrepreneurs from China, Australia, Netherlands, Indonesia, Philippines, Egypt, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar and Tunisia, as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Network of Aquaculture Center in Asia-Pacific (NACA) attended the forum. Mr. Dong Qiufen(Benjamin), Director of International Business of Guangdong Nutriera Group, was invited to attend the event and gave a presentation.

The topic of this forum is “Sustainable Development of Aquaculture”. The experts discussed the advanced concepts, models and successful stories of sustainable development of aquaculture in various countries. During the forum, an international aquaculture technology and industrial development alliance initiative was also launched to build a new communication platform for the sustainable development of the international aquaculture industry resource sharing and coordinated development.

Dr. Yang Guang, Officer of the Inter-Ministerial Joint Conference on Agricultural Cooperation, Dr. Yuan Xinhua, Senior Officer of Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Dr. Liu Yingjie, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Dr. Rokhmin Dahuri Ismail, the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries of Indonesia, Dr. Huang Jie, Director-General of the Network of Aquaculture Center in Asia-Pacific (NACA), Dr. Xu Pao, Director of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Dr. Li Qi, Dean of the Fisheries College of Ocean University of China, Dr. Qin Jianguang, from Flinders University, Australia , Dr. Chen Mingdian, Executive Vice President of Thai Chia Group and Technical Director of Aquatic Nutrition Research Center of Chia Tai Group, Dr. Marc Charles J. Verdegem, from Wageningen University, Netherlands, Dr. Najiah Musa, from Terengganu University, Malaysia, Mr. Henry Quezada Canlas Jr., Senior Fisheries Commissioner, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Ministry of Agriculture of Philippines, and other officials and experts gave wonderful presentations.

As an outstanding enterprise representative participates in “The Belt and Road Initiative”, Guangdong Nutriera Group was invited to attend this forum to share their advanced experience. Mr. Dong Qiufen, Director of International Business, gave a report titled “Nutriera Integrated Technical Solutions for International Partners”, shared 16 categories of comprehensive technical solutions provided by Nutriera experts in around 20 “The Belt and Road” countries through the aquatic hatchery, nursery, feed, processing and trading to create value for the world aquaculture industry.

The successful hosting of the International Forum on Aquaculture for Silk Road Countries Forum will promote the exchange, cooperation and healthy development of aquaculture in the countries along the “Belt and Road”.
